It also gives AT&T the advantage of offering simultaneous voice and data services.

In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. Providing average data speeds between 75-135Kbps, it's fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services, including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go. A majority of users in the architecture, engineering and construction industries rated the ability to share live video through Video Share highly, according to research commissioned by AT&T. What Customers Say About Samsung Rugby a837 Phone, Yellow (AT&T):

I switched to this from the Sliver which is supposed to be a music phone but I found the Rugby music player much easier to use. I will say that my yellow version was disappointingly scratched and grimy looking after two years. The durability was awesome. I had to wait several months for an upgrade to get it and was absolutely delighted with it once I got it. One POS freebie to the six year old who brought it to me in the pool because it was ringing (thanks baby).

I was looking for the most durable phone I could get and the Rugby was all that and more. The GPS was a lifesaver as I may have the worst sense of direction of anyone ever born. I researched like mad after losing two phones to my boys. The fast forward controls specifically were much better.

I am ashamedly hard on phones so durability is key for me. I never did get the internet to work right on it but I didn't want it so that wasn't a problem for me. I loved the loud speakerphone (important because I primarily listen to audiobooks on speaker) and that it was so easy to use. I liked that I could minimize the player and do other things too. I finally had to say goodbye to my Rugby last week when I switched to Sprint and a QWERTY keyboard phone.

If Samsung ever comes out with a QWERTY version of the Rugby I will be the first in line to get it. No matter what the kids did to it or how many times I dropped it I never had any trouble with it. The dog even chewed on it once and it came away with just a little toothmark on one side of the yellow. But, it was easy to see if the kids lost it under the couch. But the music player will allow you to close the phone while listening so you can clip it on a pocket or something to listen. I gave it a hug and a kiss before I sent it off to it's new Dad. and the Motorola Sliver to the two year old who chucked it when I wouldn't unlock the keyboard and it went splat into pieces.

LOL. By the way, can't do that with the GPS and if you close the flip it will shut the GPS off.that irritated me. It was just a good phone that I could pick up and use if that's all I wanted or it had bells and whistles if I wanted them too. Since I couldn't get the internet to work I used the GPS search function to find phone numbers and stores. If you're looking for a good, durable, no nonsense phone the Rugby is for you.

I picked the yellow for ease of location across a room and the hard rubber shell does what it does just fine. I bought this at another online site to replace a Samsung A437. This phone does all I need, and does it very well. Just transferred my other SIM card and it was locked and loaded. I have no problem recommending it. I have no need for a pocket-sized laptop so anything beyond that is fluff to me.

It's built well with a quality, heavy feel. The A437 was a good phone, I had no issues with it but wanted something a little more advanced and a bit more durable. IMO, all cell phones should be built like this one, or close to it, simply due to the nature of life as a cell phone in general. The only dribble I have is the front display does not stay on like my other phone did - I wish there were a software upgrade to give us the option - but I think I can survive with out it. Other then that, I love it. I get great reception and it takes good pictures.

Then again, I had an older cell, so the upgrade was night and day.

The GPS does have a voice feature that talks though. I use mine for talking and texting and that's about it.

I like the bigger buttons. The outside of the phone (what is yellow in the picture) feels like rubber but I keep it in my pocket a lot and it doesn't get stuck.

I've had my phone for a few months and it is working great. The features are nothing special but as good as any other phone I've seen.

I've dropped it many times and it still works. It doesn't show wear and tear like a lot of other phones I've had.

It came with GPS but the GPS is not really useful unless you want to look at your phone while you are driving. Also, the speaker phone is very loud.I recommend this phone for anyone who is rough on phones and wants a good functional cell.

He has dropped it numerous times, never broke. My other half is hell on cell phones. This phone is great, and it withstands all he dishes out. He likes the features on this phone, as he doesn't need a millions aps and gadgets. This is, as he says, "The best phone I've ever had".

My husband and I both got Rugby's this week. when we talked to each other. Maybe we just got bad phones. Both of our phones faded in and out , up and down and cut out. However, I am still in a contract with AT&T and will have to pay my activation fees and full price for new phones or cancel my service. Its been nice knowing you AT&T. Every other word was. As other reviews have stated they have some problems with the speaker volume. They do seem to be durable but if you sound like your at the bottom of a well half the time and repeating yourself the other half its not worth the trade off.

What. or HUH. We did get them from Amazon.com who btw does not exchange defective phones, they are going to credit my account the full amout of each phone ( a whole 1 penny per phone). Peace out
